In the present day we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day to recognize the efforts of
Dr. King. We also recognize his accomplishments with books, web pages, and
magazines.
A few students of Jackson Creek Middle School were questioned about what Martin Luther
King Jr. means to them. A few responses are listed here.
Q. What does Martin Luther King Jr. represent, in your eyes.
A. - In my opinion, Martin Luther King Jr. represents the idea of equality and the
beginning of the end of racial discrimination. I believe that Martin Luther King Jr.
saw the problems in humanity and utilized his full potential to fight against the
segregation, without actually fighting. -Anonymous, Blue Block
A. - Martin Luther King Jr. is a symbol of liberty, independence, honesty, and faith
among the people of the United States. Not many people could do what he did, make
speeches to millions of people, stay calm under harsh conditions, and fight for the things
that he believed in. -Matt, Blue Block
A. - In my eyes, Martin Luther King is a powerful African-American leader that knows
what he is doing. Unlike some people, he understands that he is fighting for a
cause, a very important cause that involves rights, independence, and freedom, all of the
things that make up the United States. -Nick, Jaguar Block
As the designer of this web page, I feel that it is part of my responsibility to
actually participate as much as I possibly can. Martin Luther King Jr. is an
American hero, not for his acts, life, speeches, or popularity, but for his dream.
His dream was an American dream. His dream involved equality, rights, independence,
peace, and America. He helped America realize its own pride, "All men are
created equal..." He was a leader with a first person view on the matter.
Without Dr. King's thoughts, opinions, and of course, dreams, America would not be where
it is today. This is what Martin Luther King represents, America.
